Basically, it's a reimagining of the ending of CA:TFA where Steve managed to land the plane so he marries Peggy until SPOILERS Peggy finally comes clean and tells him they've been tracking the Winter Soldier and they think it's Bucky. And it turns out the government had been keeping the letters that Bucky wrote to Steve in the war---somehow they go public and so there's a whole cult of celebrity thing going on there too. Fucking fascinating. Twenty-first century ensues. There are one million awful horrible devastating one-liners from this fic including:

  I actually don't know how I survived reading this fic it changed me fundamentally I was going through the horrors and the joys I stayed up until 5 reading it one night and I would do it all again.
